Julian Jaynes (1923­) is a research psychologist and lecturer at 
Princeton University. He was educated at Harvard, McGill and Yale 
universities. His 1978 book, The Origin of Consciousness in the  
Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind , won him a National Book Award 
nomination.
